EMA holds a special place in our story: they were the very first manufacturer we partnered with, back in 2010. Walking into the EMA factory always feels like stepping into an oasis of calm, tucked away just outside the bustle of Kolkata. There's a peaceful garden at the heart of the compound, and the smell of fresh herbs from their own vegetable patch drifts through at lunchtime. What strikes us most is how they take care of their people: fair wages, healthcare, training, maternity leave, and a warm home-cooked lunch every single day. EMA is led by women and gives opportunities to artisans, farmers, and weavers who might otherwise struggle to find steady work. There's an incredible amount of hands-on skill behind everything they make. One story we love: a former EMA employee saw how many women in his village needed jobs, so he left to start his own sewing workshop for them. That small workshop now makes every dustbag we send out with our bags. It fills us with warmth to see how far EMA has come over the years, a journey we've been fortunate to witness up close since the very beginning.
